listen to hey paul

about

Steven introduced a bass/guitar/conga part for what would become
Hey Paul within a few weeks of our first getting together in
March of 2000. I came up with a vocal melody that closely
followed the bass part and added the chords for the intro, chorus
and end of the song. The chords were loosely based on an old
bridge that I came up with for Cris Walkinshaw's Flat Song and were
inspired by a song on Strangeways Here We Come. Scott
Stemmerman added guitar parts that Bone has faithfully replicated.

source of sounds

don - vox, drums, guitars, tambourine, congas

words

hey paul
hey hey paula
i'd like to marry you
hey paul
hey hey paula
fly me to the moon

weekends the colored lights
flicker in the room
he coughs, she looks away
now everyone's here from california
texas, maine and minnesota

hey paul
hey hey paula
i'd like to marry you
hey paul
hey hey paula
fly me to the moon

we've got to get away
she whimpered on the phone
so he split, the next day
now he lives in california
texas, maine or minnesota
