.mp3 listen to hey paul
about Steven introduced a bass/guitar/conga part for what would become Hey Paul within a few weeks of our first getting together in March of 2000. I came up with a vocal melody that closely followed the bass part and added the chords for the intro, chorus and end of the song. The chords were loosely based on an old bridge that I came up with for Cris Walkinshaw's Flat Song and were inspired by a song on Strangeways Here We Come. Scott Stemmerman added guitar parts that Bone has faithfully replicated.
