.mp3 listen to terry the pirate
about I had the idea for this song and a piano part laying around since the '80s. We finally married it with some chords and a melody of Pat's that we had been working on tenatively tited "Gourd". The "Who is stowed away on board?" was inspired by Pat's dummy line "Ooo, I'm going out of my gourd." I thought that I had pulled the title out of my bum but found out later that Terry the Pirate was a children's book in the '50s.

words he was just a boy when he first sailed with me she was just a girl when she set sail with me and they both know who I am (let him in! let him in!) and they both know what I do but who will say who? who has stowed away on board? just waiting waiting who is changing this ship's course? just waiting waiting who is hissing mutiny? just waiting waiting lost in foggy foaming seas just waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting for you to say he was all alone when we first took to sea she was not afraid to go around the world with me
