listen to two pale blackberries

about

The verse and chorus for this song was born in the
mid-'90s. Big Perm recorded a version in the '90s.
This offering originally differd mostly in the intro
and outro. Later we changed the classic melody that
Pat came up with to work with the more spare sound
inspired by the lap steel.

The whole fishies thing is leftover from Marching Backwards, a song Ala Mandlebaum and I made up in Boxes of Love. I wanted it to be a bit moodier than the Big Perm recording. The song ended up being a perfect fit thematically.

words

where's the sunshine coming from?
it just happens
where's the sunshine going to?
it just happens

don't let it get you down
don't let it get you down
don't let it get you

because the sky will always bring it back and
then back into the sky
when it comes to your hometown
two pale blackberries

where's the water coming from?
it just happens
where's the water going to?
it just happens

don't let it get you down
don't let it get you down
don't let it get you

because the sea will always bring it back and
then back into the sea
when it comes to your hometown
two pale blackberries

fishies come and fishies play
fishies die and float away
and this is what the piggies say
"it just happens"

farmers work in farmer's fields
farmers grow chemicals
and this is what the piggies say
"it just happens"
