01/30/24 Heard the first "Petunia! Petunia! Whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop!" of the year.
01/29/24 Hyacinth above ground. Crocuses look yellow & fried.
01/28/24 Found a dandelion bloom under the leaves on the garden parth.
01/27/24 Cardinals, Titmice, Carolina Wrens and House Finches are getting noisier every day.
03/12/24 Forsythia continues to make a scant display of blooms. Nothing like the full yellow mounds from 2 years and back.
03/13/24 Grackles showed up a few weeks ago. All of the Virginia Bluebells are finally above ground.
03/23/24 FOY Thrasher. Over a week early.
04/27/24 FOY Catbird nest building in the Forsythia. Also heard FOY Orioles.
05/01/24 Indigo Bunting in the yard.
05/30/24 We did a wildflower seed mix in a few spots this year. Little white flowers (Candytuft?) have been blooming for a week or so. Planted some Shasta Daisies that I started indoors from seed. Put in a cactus garden. Giant oak tree removed that was blocking sun from the south so we'll see how that impacts things.
08/25/24 Beauty Berry dropped nearlly all of its berries overnight.
11/12/24 Only one freeze so far so zinnias, pitcher sage, lilacs, fennel, roses are all blooming.
