This was in a pile of non-dated slides that were self-framed. Is this young lady enraptured by Grandpa's performance or is she dreaming about Micky Dolenz?
Over 400 slides that weren't dated and are in self-seal (iron) frames. Some the locations I could recognize were Williamsburg VA, Sydney, Whittier CA, Nova Scotia, Mount Mitchell, cruise ship with Yarmouth/Panama life preserver and more. Check out some of the samples for additional clues to locations.
109 slides from Salem, Lake Walden, Concord, Lexington in 1974. The images are all typical site-seeing pictures - statues, landscapes etc. There is also a box of 3X3 slides in this lot.
143 pictures from a trip to Hawaii in 1975. May be a few shows from California too. There are a few shots of a Ghost Town/Western Town that I can't indentify. Signs on buildings read "Pool Hall", "Undertaking & Cabinet Making", "General Merchandise", "Livery Stable" etc.
68 pictures taken around Moscow in 1976. If the circular building in the first picture is the Krugli Dom, the photograph was taken just 3 years after its completion.
34 slides from the 1976 trip to Russia. Most of these are poorly exposed or poorly focused. They were separated from the lot above by the photographer.
155 nice pictures from a trip to Egypt in 1978. There are photographs of many of Egypt's most recognizable historic sites, Egyptians making their way around the city with water or bread, camel carrying hay, horses and donkeys carrying people, street scenes, city views etc.
A box of slides marked "Louisberg" that show people in Civil War-era costumes. I am assuming that this is Louisberg (now Nova Scotia, Canada) and that the pictures are from the Quebec Barracks or some other sites or events related to the war.
58 slides from a Tall Ships event, possibly in New England in 1980. There is a picture of State Street Bank which means the festival could have been in Boston or Chicago. Perhaps someone more familiar with cityscapes or Tall Ship Festivals could shed some light on the location for this date.
33 pictures of the royal wedding and proceding procession in 1981. Film was processed in September 1981 when the photographer returned to the US. No great shots of Diana and Prince Charles (I've cropped and posted a few close-ups in the sample section) but they are unpublished originals.
36 pictures of the procession following Princess Diana & Prince Charles' wedding in 1981. Film was processed in September 1981 when the photographer returned to the US. No shots of Diana and Prince Charles but there are some of the Queen and other family members in their carriages. These are unpublished originals. I've cropped a few of the images so that you can see the passengers close up.
36 slides from the start of another cruise to Europe in the summer of 1981. Lot includes pictures taken from (and of) the ship in the NY harbor of the New York skyline, some foggy shots of the World Trade Center, photographs of Paris taken from a tall building and then some wonderful neon-lit pictures of lusty Paris at night. Several pictures of the Moulin Rouge and The Sex Shop.
500 slides documenting travels through France, England and Germany. There may be other European countries but these I know for certain. There are another fistful of photographs of a royal procession through London that may or may not be from the wedding of Diana and Prince Charles.
"And I fell right into the arms of Venus de Milo." 38 slides from a 1981 visit to the Louvre Museum in Paris. The pictures are mostly of the famous museum exhibits including Venus de Milo and Mona Lisa.
7 slides from 1983. Most are of a building being imploded. The building sign reads "The Madison." There is a advertisement on the building for Sea Crest Auto which offers "New England's biggest discounts." Another sign reads Charlestown, Mystic Bridge, Callahan Tunnel, Downtown Boston so clearly we are in or near Connecticut. I still don't know what the building is. It's large enough that there should be some record of it's demise. Later - and I found it: "May 15, 1983: In Boston, MA, the Madison Hotel was destroyed by implosion."
31 slides in a box marked Air Show B17 - Longwood at Xmas. I've only posted sampels of the jets in the show. Some of the shots of the airplanes are blurry from being shot in flight. At least half of the slides are of a flower show in 1987.
Almost 200 slides from that undated slides, rolls of film that only included a few shots, friends and relatives etc. In fact, I would guess that a 3rd of the lot are of people. If you are a member of the Campbell family this is the lot you want. Also lots of pictures of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
