About 1,500 35mm slides taken by Dick Baxter from 1964-1990s. Dick and his family may have lived near Cathedral Square Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Dick (or his spouse) likely worked at Prudential Insurance. He was a talented photogrpaher and later (1970s-1980s) worked in the color lab at National Geographic, possibly in Washington D.C. Most of the transparencies are square-framed and my scanner auto-crops them poorly. This explains some of the image samples of humans that start at the shoulders or even neck.
Some of the names listed on the photographs - most Prudential Insurance Company employees from the early 1970s: Grandma Jeske & Amy, Chuckie Grosse, Ginny Amrhein, Betty Hannon, Virginia Amrhein, Lu Zircues, Neil Kittleson, Gordon Bressaur, Cliff Morris, Roy Lease, Fred Zaug, Bill & Maxine Reis, Jean Piner, Paul & Laura, Joe Pinzer, Peg Pinzer, Craig & Sue Hemmen, Len & Timmy Albiniak, Bill Cuddigan, Hazel Maloney, Rich McDonald, Joe Kelly, Ed Rapee, Lyle Kleinhans, Jerry Falkenstein, Dennis Kharatou, Mark Sahagian, Bill Protz, Cheryl Luedtke, Sue Hemmen, Mike Maloney, Cher Luedtke, Dave Nortman, Ed & Jean Pinzer, Shirley & Harvey Jeske, Gail & Anthony D'Esposito, Doug & Barb Angell, Jill & Doug Pinzer, Fink & Joe PInzer, Jan & Frank Bonfiglio, Louis Schueller, Ed Rapee, Julie Harmon, Ann Blake, Mark Sahagian, Bill Moss, Bob Brill, Eugene Olech, Ardy Morris, Gail Menor, Lynn Grosse, Mailman Al, Art Bednar, Lu Zirwes, Shirley Jeske
Some of the notable Milwaukee landmarks pictured include: Cathedral Square Park, Prudential Insurance Company Wisconsin Shores Agency, The Village Green Motor Lodge, Wisconsin State Fair, Stonewood Village, Meade Fine Food and Cocktails, County Stadium, The Proud Popover Restaurant and Tavern, Victorio's Restaurant, Weyenberg Shoe, Layton Place, Shaxted House of Linen, Milwaukee County Zoo, George Webb Restaurant, First Wisconsin Center, St. John's Cathedral, Milwaukee Federal Parking, John's Parking, Firestone, Dunlop Tires, George Watts & Son Inc., Great Midwest Savings & Loan, Pfister Hotel Tower, Milwaukee City Hall, M&I Bank, Babe & Ray's Motel and Cocktail Lounge, Maryland Casualty Company, Heritage Bank, White Manor Inn, Arrows Trailer Court, Whitnall Park
32 slides from the 1960s-1970s. Many of the pictures of Arlington are red borders from the late 1960s. Some of the slides are stamped National Geographic Society - where Dick worked.
100 slides taken in October 1971. Most of the pictures are of a wedding and wedding-related events - including a flight on American Airlines to, most likely, Hawaii. Are the parents Dick and "Chuckie"?
54 photographs in slide format taken in 1973. There are two shots that are labeled "Me" and they are of a female. It is possible that some of the pictures in these lots were taken by Dick's wife. The slide labels do bounce back and forth between printing and cursive.
52 slides taken from 1976 through 1979. Includes pictures of a Milwaukee Brewers vs Oakland Athletics baseball game and the Wisconsin State Fair. One slide's frame from 1976 is stamped Floyd R. Baxter with an Arlington, VA address.
16 macro/close-up photos taken sometime in the 1970s or 1980s. The slide frames are stamped "EMULSION SLIDE". The BACK-ACHERS on the mailbox suggests that Dick may have had a cabin at the Back-Achers Campsite in Himrod, NY.
58 of the large 2X2 Kodachromes. I can't get my scanning software to capture these properly so the samples below, instead of being large and beautiful like the slides, are rudely cropped.
26 slides, most from the 1980s, and most of Cicads in various states of undress. In some of the pictures the cicadas appear to be on rose bushes. There are pictures in other sets in this lot of the rose bushes covered at the Arlington house so perhaps they were an isssue?
120 processed in September of 1983. A lot of the samples shown are from a trip to vist the Taylor Family (Sandi, Doug, Alan, Erin) in Buffalo, New York. There are a few nice shots of an unknown amusement park - Lagoon or Darien Lake?
