Four red framed Kodachromes from 1948. There is a problem with all four pictures - the scene is divided in the center of the slide. Perhaps the film wasn't loaded in the camera properly. I've cropped the samples below. The business district shots appear to be from Pleasanton, Kansas. Businesses pictured include the Tip Toe Inn, Texaco Service Station, Cafe, Garage.
10 old slides showing the Johnny J. Jones Exposition - a kind of carnival/circus event. A portion of the slides show carnival rides. The balance show people filing behind trailers with animals and some sort of livestock judging contest. It is possible that these are two separate events. This may have taken place in Kansas City, Tennesee or Florida.
Three pictures of a large pool, most likely in Kansas City, Missouri. There were several pools this size around the city during this time, including Swope Park and Fairyland Park.
More shots of building rubble from some catastrophe or some sort. Most likely tornado if these were taken in Linn County, Kansas. Could also be fire-related.
A single slide showing a building at 4th and Walnut in Kansas City, Missouri. The businesses are De Feo Fruit Compnay (shown as 403 Walnut), L. Yukon & Sons Produce Company Incorporated (405 Walnut) and Pisciotta Fruit & Vegetable Company at 409 Walnut.
One red bordered slide looking towards 12th & Main Street in Kansas City, MO. You can see a Sinclair Gasoline sign, a Duff & Repp furniture/home furnishings sign (1216 Main Street) and a building with a sign that starts with the letters PRESCE.
One vintage slide that shows the crowd at the in Kansas City in the late 1940s or early 1950s. It ran from September 22nd to September 23rd. That's right friends, it was a TWO DAY show of just dahlias. Not an orchid in sight.
One slide of a billboard advertising the Hill Top Kourt Motel in Gravois Mills, Missouri in the Ozarks. You can see that the river near the sign has flooded and a man is fishing on the side of the road.
1 Kodachrome slide of an Esso refinery. I don't know where this particular plant was located. Many of the slides from these lots are from Kansas City, Tennesee and Florida.
This slide shows a Standard Oil/Mobiloil Service Station near Windsor Castle and Grand Gulf in Florida. The building in the background MAY have been what the photographer was trying to capture. There are 8 or so men sitting on a curb and a man that apepars to be getting out of a car to join them.
