34 of the earliest pictures from this collection. A mix of red border Kodachromes and Ansco Color slides. The family is at the Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm, Long Beach California and celebrating Christmas at Grandmother Stanton's in El Dorado, KS.
One of my favorite lots of slides ever. 32 red border Krodachones showing the family celebrating Christmas, Easter and birthday parties in 1956. They may have moved from El Dorado, KS to Tulsa, OK this year as there are two different addresses on the slides.
Four red border slides from 1958 showing Sherry dragging around Whiskers the cat. There is a cat named Whiskers in the documentary "Grey Gardens." Big Edie in her inimitable falsetto: "Whiskers!"
Four original and unpublished 35mm Kodachrome transparencies of the Vote for Nixon motorcade whooshing through Tulsa, OK while campaigning for the presidency in the fall of 1960. The one shot of Nixon and Patricia is blurry but there is no mistaking the face. His name is also written on the slide frames. The Daylight Donut shop pictures may be more rare than the Nixon photographs.
13 Stanton Family slides from 1960. The family is still at 7334 East Newton in Tulsa. The subjects include Easter and a visit to El Dorado, KS and some fishing at Adams farm. The superfluous third "daughter" (Inspired by Krusty The Clown's superflous 3rd nipple. I've also considered the possibility that it is a "jump the shark" baby. See Dodie Douglas , Family Affair.) reappears. Again, not sure if she is a family member or a friend/relative. They regularly put her in a dress mathing Sandy and Sherry's on Easter.
20 pictures in this lot. A few slides of the girls with pumpkins and looking for Easter eggs. The rest of the lot are from the annual El Dorado, KS parade. The family is at 7334 East Newton at this point.
19 slides from a 1962 vacation. The location looks sort of Pueblo Indian-y. Wait, not Pueblo Indians. The Indians that lived in rock cities south of Colorado. Those Indians.
14 slides from 1968. Many of the shots are in or near Georgetown, Ontario, Canada. There is a picture of the Georgetown District High School and a beautiful shot of the commercial district. Why were they taking pictures of the High School?
33 slides from 1969. The family appears to be traveling again. Some Christmas pictures and a few shots of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing on a black and white television, as was the custom of the day.
34 slides of a Christmas gathering and a parade in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada. Not sure where the drive through zoo with the monkeys climbing on visitor's cars is from. Perhaps Canada? African Lion Safari is in Cambridge, Ontario.
